Derrick: I got the site purchased, and am going to do the upload of WordPress. I have been reading your material and started looking at copyblogger. I printed out a bunch of things and added myself to their email list. One of the other things they offered was an educational weekly from Sonia called Internet Marketing for Smart People. I have enjoyed the content, although it’s limited. Now there is an offer to join a monthly educational thing with videos, webnars, Q&As etc for $27 a month. It’s called The Third Tribe, and deals with selling without being an IMer or Social Media Cool Kid. The vids will be from Brian Clark, Darin Rouse, Chris Brogan, Sonia Simone and others. It’s cancelable at any time. Are they trustworthy? Do you think it will be something a new business owner could learn from? I once ordered a copywriting course and it was REALLY a hoax, but they had by $500 and I was out of luck. I like copyblogger very much. There’s some good stuff there. I have started reviewing my writing techniques again, since I used to write ad copy for newpapers etc. What do you think? The offer of $27 is only until Feb 5, so I am wondering…this style is a technique used by many online places: promise something great, back it up with known entities, charge something and say it’s going up soon. I mean, I’ve written these. Have you had dealings with them? I would like to try it out, but don’t know enough here. They’re local, so I guess I could go down to the office with my 90 pound shepherd mix if they prove unreliable LOL. Thanks. I’m off to do some work on my site. GoDaddy was easy to work with. They are heling me get wordpress installed. Then it’s on to Thesis and Ejunkie. I’m excited and recently found another stream of income that will fit into my site as well. Thanks for everything. Great question and I’m glad you’ve posted it online. Chris, Brian, and crew are some of the most trustworthy in the business. Chris actually just published a book called “Trust Agents”. They have been in the business of giving away information for FREE for years and will continue to do so on their respective sites. The Third Tribe is a break from their normal “give it all away for free” and they are providing a little higher level of touch, education, etc.

With that said, you have a lot of work to do before you can start thinking about monetization. Still, their guidance will shape how you go about that. Brian, Chris, and crew have always delivered quality and very much stand behind promises such as “cancel at any time” etc. I’d say go for it (in fact they have my curiosity as well and you might very well find me in there). You’ll be able to figure out whether it is the right thing for you within the first couple of months so money at risk is pretty low here.

Thx for posting the question and let us know how things go with your new venture.

Thanks!

Derick,

You and I spoke several months ago about your optimizing my blog. At that time you said you would provide consultations on how to use certain software to increase SEO. May I call you about this? I have been doing quite a bit of research on the subject and have reached the conclusion that your way is the best way. Let’s talk!
